Interview with NVC Wu Changjiang: Doing National Lighting First (Photo)

NVC Lighting President Wu Changjiang

At the end of 1998, NVC Lighting was established in a small factory building in Jinyuan Industrial Zone, Huizhou, Guangdong Province. The Pearl River Delta, where tens of thousands of lighting manufacturers gathered, added another bland factory. However, in just ten years, this small registered factory with only one million registered funds has been built by Wu Changjiang as one of the most well-known local companies in China's lighting industry.

After completing the expansion of the lighting kingdom in ten years, Wu Changjiang has begun to plan for the future development of NVC. He will use his own innovation to make NVC the first brand in the national lighting industry that can compete with international giants. On the occasion of the completion of the NVC Shanghai R&D Center, the reporter interviewed the legendary figure in the lighting industry.

Innovation, helping the NVC to achieve the future

After decades of development, China has become the world's largest producer and exporter of lighting appliances. Although there are already thousands of brands in China's lighting industry, due to the lack of core technologies, most of these brands are in the low-end market, while high-end markets are divided by foreign brands such as GE and Philips.

The cruel market structure makes Wu Changjiang realize that in order to reverse the big and not strong dilemma of China's lighting industry, it is necessary to take self-innovation and master core technology as the driving force to support its future development, from manufacturing to creation. To this end, NVC annually They all took 20% of the total expenditure as research and development expenses, which has far exceeded the average level of the domestic industry. At the same time, NVC also has a dedicated product planning research and development system, responsible for the development and management of new products. In order to pursue the development trend of new green energy-saving lighting products, NVC has jointly researched and developed key science and technology projects with domestic universities such as Harbin Institute of Technology and Fudan University Electric Light Source Research Institute, and has invested heavily in the R&D center of Huizhou headquarters in Guangdong.

On July 8, 2008, after one year of preparation and the international advanced level of the NVC Shanghai R&D Center was completed, this is obviously a key piece for NVC in the future development. Wu Changjiang said that this R&D center will fully integrate the industry, talents and information advantages of the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta, and greatly enhance the efficiency and speed of NVC in independent R&D and technological innovation, thus providing NVC with sustained and rapid development. Strong technical support.

Because Shanghai is currently the most concentrated area for research in China's light source, electrical appliances, and related industries, the R&D center has been completed here, which has enabled NVC to acquire new accelerators on the road of independent innovation.

Environmental protection and energy saving NVC development stepped on the beat of the times

With the implementation of the scientific concept of development and the establishment of an environmentally friendly society and other major national policies, environmental protection and energy conservation has become the main theme of the lighting industry, and has become a consumer consciousness and consumption habit from spontaneous to conscious.

Wu Changjiang said that most of NVC's existing products are environmentally friendly products, including energy-saving lamps, electronic brackets, and electronic transformers. Most of NVC's products do not contain lead, mercury and other pollution elements, but the price is basically locked in the middle, the purpose is to promote the development of the entire lighting industry products in the direction of environmental protection, but also change the status quo of energy saving and not saving.

With the implementation of national energy efficiency standards, next, the focus of NVC Shanghai R&D Center is on the development of green technologies and products. NVC will develop more energy-saving products to the market.

Outline the lighting empire, NVC enters the era of global brand marketing

Due to the macro-control policies and the adverse factors such as the appreciation of the renminbi and the rise in labor costs, the production and export of the lighting industry have faced great challenges this year.

However, Wu Changjiang told reporters that from January to June, NVC’s sales growth still reached 3-4 times the industry average. After winning several Olympic lighting projects, NVC’s new outlets in the second and third-tier markets Development and development have also achieved rapid growth. Since the beginning of this year, 600 new outlets have been added, reaching 2,100 outlets.

At the same time, with the completion of three modern industrial parks invested in more than one billion yuan in Huizhou, Chongqing, Wanzhou, and Linyi, Shandong, a well-planned lighting kingdom has emerged under the outline of Wu Changjiang, and NVC’s The enhancement of manufacturing capacity and R&D capability has also significantly enhanced the competitiveness of NVC brand and the competitiveness of products.

The rapid development of NVC has clearly attracted the attention of the international lighting industry giants. In August 2007, GE, the global originator of lighting, took the initiative to throw out the olive branch and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with NVC. For this industry-focused cooperation, Wu Changjiang said that NVC and GE are not OEMs. For GE, it uses our comprehensive sales channel system to sell their products. For NVC, you can learn GE's advanced technology, so this is a win-win cooperation.

After the domestic business is relatively mature and maintains a certain growth rate, Wu Changjiang began to consider the expansion of overseas markets. In particular, with the entry of overseas venture capital softbank in 2006, Wu Changjiang and his NVC have a greater imagination in internationalization.

In 2007, NVC's first self-owned brand flagship store opened in Malaysia. With the establishment of strategic partnerships with GE and other international brands, NVC's own brand opened stores in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.

For NVC, which has just begun the pace of internationalization, the market has also given more than expected returns. It is expected that in November, NVC's overseas performance is expected to achieve more than 300% growth. Obviously, NVC Lighting, which is at the node of ten years, has opened a new era of global brand marketing under the leadership of Wu Changjiang.
