Renesas ADAS System Image Recognition SoC Solution

ADAS is applied to the vehicle safety system. It needs to filter and identify the environment graphics, and truly reflect the image around the vehicle body. It needs to support data analysis of multiple cameras at the same time, and can transmit data through the vehicle bus. To this end, Renesas' SH7766 series products specially designed for ADAS systems are new products of Renesas Image Recognition SoC series, which are widely praised and favored in domestic and foreign markets.

In recent years, there has been a general consensus in the automotive industry that cars will become more intelligent in the future and eventually become unmanned. Under this consensus, unmanned driving projects are booming, and ADAS is the premise of car unmanned driving. It is very important to solve the problem of high traffic accidents and reduce casualties.

ADAS was originally defined as the use of cameras, radar sensors and other functions to detect lane markers and pedestrians during driving to help drivers drive safely. ADAS is applied to the vehicle safety system. It needs to filter and identify the environment graphics. It can clearly identify the details of the image and truly reflect the image around the body. It needs to support the data analysis of multiple cameras at the same time, and can transmit the data through the vehicle bus. .

To this end, the SH7766 series of products developed by Renesas, an automotive chip supplier, for the ADAS system, is a new product of the Renesas Image Recognition SoC series. Its surround detection system with integrated hardware engine, including a distortion correction engine, graphics engine, and image recognition engine, greatly optimizes image-assisted functions and is widely acclaimed and favored in domestic and foreign markets.

The product block diagram of Renesas SH7766 is shown in Figure 1:


The chip frame of SH7766 above, for the image processing required for ADAS, can be implemented:

1) Peripheral object detection (support 4 channel camera)

2) High performance image recognition engine

3) Integrated DRC (Dynamic Range Control), support brightness correction and compensation

4) Built-in distortion correction hardware IMR (Image Render Engine)

Renesas SH7766 Series ADAS Solution:

As shown above, through the camera and image sensor MLX75412 (night vision, track deviation alarm), the image information is sent to SH7766 (camera sensor mcu), the image is analyzed and recognized inside SH7766, and the brightness is corrected and compensated, so that the LCD is connected. Displayed on the screen and can be switched between different angle views. The SH7766 can communicate with the body management MCU via CAN, SPI, etc., as shown in Figure 3. The image information can be sent to the on-board computer chip SH7269 via the CAN network to communicate with the body control system for network management.


The SH7766 SOC provides solutions for image processing in the ADAS system, and can communicate with the safety functions such as radar detection of the body control system to ensure the functional integrity of the ADAS system from various aspects and promote the development of the new generation of ADAS technology.
