Shaanxi Radio and TV: Creating a "Belt and Road" International Media Industry Base
On the morning of September 24, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Xi'an Aerospace Base to mark the official start of construction for the Shaanxi Radio and Television Development Base. The event was attended by Zhuang Changxing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, who officially announced the beginning of the project. Other key figures present included Wang Fubao, Director of the Shaanxi Radio and Television Station and Chairman of the Shaanxi Radio and TV Group, Liu Qiang, Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Deputy Party Secretary, as well as leaders from various relevant units.
The Shaanxi Radio and Television Media Center is set to cover a planned construction area of 206,000 square meters with an estimated investment of around 2.6 billion yuan. The development will include multiple buildings such as the radio and television headquarters, satellite earth station, logistics service center, comprehensive building, broadcasting technology center, and network infrastructure. Divided into three phases, the first two will focus on the Shaanxi Broadcasting Media Center, while the third phase will establish the "Belt and Road" International Media Industry Base.
Wang Fubao highlighted that the new media center will serve as a modern hub for producing and broadcasting both traditional and new media content. It will support the production and broadcast of 12 high-definition TV channels and 12 radio frequencies, aligning with the evolving demands of the digital era. As the main construction entity, the Shaanxi Radio and Television Station will collaborate closely with the Shaanxi Provincial Land Construction Group, ensuring quality, efficiency, and responsibility in delivering a world-class project that contributes to the province’s cultural and spiritual development.
In addition to the media center, the "Belt and Road" International Media Industry Base will be developed on the same site, covering a total area of 287,000 square meters. This includes 72,000 square meters of underground space, 50,000 square meters of commercial development, and 165,000 square meters for traditional industrial growth. The base aims to become a major incubator for the broadcasting and media industry, attracting domestic and international companies and fostering cooperation across the "One Belt, One Road" region.
Designed to promote cultural exchange and international collaboration, the project will feature seven key platforms, including enterprise exhibitions, information dissemination, joint R&D, trade transactions, financial support, corporate offices, and public services. Over the next 3–5 years, it is expected to evolve into a globally influential modern media hub.
Architecturally, the project draws inspiration from the concepts of "light" and "city walls," symbolizing the power of media to illuminate and inspire people's dreams. It reflects Shaanxi’s rich cultural heritage and its forward-looking spirit, making it not only a functional media complex but also a meaningful cultural landmark.
