Hisense Announces Two New Laser TV Products: Stop Production of 1080P Products
On November 23rd, Hisense held a major product launch event in Beijing, unveiling their latest laser TV models: the S6 and L6 series. These new additions to the lineup are designed to deliver an enhanced viewing experience with advanced technology and improved performance.
The L6 series is recommended for screen sizes of 80, 88, and 100 inches, featuring a brightness level of 350 nits, which significantly improves visibility in well-lit environments. This makes it ideal for living rooms or spaces where ambient light might interfere with traditional displays.
In terms of color accuracy, the L6 series covers 116% of the BT.709 color gamut, offering richer and more vibrant colors compared to previous generations. It also incorporates HDR imaging technology and 120Hz MEMC motion compensation, ensuring smoother motion handling and a more immersive visual experience.
One of the standout features of the L6 series is its integrated audio system. The sound is embedded directly into the laser projector, and the design was developed in collaboration with Harman Kardon. This partnership ensures high-quality audio output, while the included wireless subwoofer delivers deep bass down to 40Hz—reducing the size by 60% compared to earlier models.
For content, the L6 runs on the VIDAA smart TV platform, supporting a wide range of services including online streaming, home karaoke, fitness programs, educational content, senior learning, and even TV shopping. This makes it a versatile entertainment hub for the whole family.
Meanwhile, the S6 series takes a different approach with a sleek metal body design. It’s available in larger sizes—120 and 150 inches—and boasts a lens life of over 20,000 hours, making it a durable choice for long-term use.
Currently, the L6 series is already available in China and the U.S., while the S6 is set to launch later this year. However, pricing details were not disclosed during the event.
Hisense has emphasized its commitment to laser TV technology, stating that it now controls the entire supply chain for laser TV components. Unlike LCD and OLED technologies, which face challenges in scalability, efficiency, and cost, Hisense sees laser TVs as a promising future direction. The company plans to continue investing in R&D to further enhance the performance and accessibility of laser television solutions.
