Domestic and foreign companies share mutual wins to compose 3D printing beautiful tomorrow!

It can be said that if you do 3D printing now, you basically don’t make money. It may be difficult to make money in the next year or two. However, why do we still enjoy layout 3D printing? I think that not making money now does not mean that we cannot make money in the future. Now everyone is talking about 3D printing. Developed countries in the world are all laying out 3D printing one after another. It shows that the future of 3D printing is very bright, and 3D printing is not only an issue. Advanced manufacturing technology, but a national strategy.

The world’s $12 trillion traditional manufacturing market is being rewritten by 3D printing. Now is the golden opportunity for 3D printing. If an industry has already started making money, the best opportunity period is missed.

The 3D printing technology itself does have its own advantages, and these advantages cannot be replaced by traditional manufacturing. The 3D printing technology itself and the traditional manufacturing industry are also not the question of who should replace who, but complement each other and optimize each other.

We have now clearly seen the successful application of 3D printing in complex industrial molds and medical fields, as well as the huge market potential in the fields of small-batch, customization, education and training. What we need to do now is to maintain enough confidence and patience. Institutions that conduct research and development of technology should start from the material side, conduct in-depth research on materials and processes, and make our printers faster, more accurate, and lower in cost. There are more functional materials available. Enterprises that do application services should do more 3D printing+, and really open the market for 3D printing applications. If a good technology can not effectively open the application market, the development of this technology will undoubtedly be limited.

Although the domestic 3D printing industry is booming, about three to four hundred companies enter the field of 3D printing, but it is basically in a “small and scattered” state. Although most of the foreign 3D printing companies are not profitable, and the scale is not too big, the difference is still very obvious. First of all, from a technical perspective, we basically lack the core technologies and lack original technologies, but foreign technologies are constantly rewriting the new history of 3D printing. At the application level, although we have begun to apply in many areas, our application is still very basic, and there are still many difficulties and problems in opening the application market. The United States has basically covered all areas in the aerospace and military industries, and European applications in the automotive and parts, molds, and medical fields have been used for more than 10 years. Although Japan is also a latecomer, Japan’s applications in molds, automobiles, and parts and components are far more than we have.

Then, what problems have occurred in China's 3D printing? Is our gap expanding or shrinking? According to our research, although the country attaches great importance to 3D printing, 3D printing is listed as "Made in China 2025" and "13th Five-Year Advanced Manufacturing Development Plan". Every year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology have a lot of special financial support, but our country 3D printing has not achieved major technological breakthroughs on the whole. The gap between us and foreign countries is not narrowing but expanding. The country's special funds for 3D printing are basically monopolized by some universities. Those who can get these funds basically do not have core competitive products, and some companies that take root in 3D printing R&D and application do not get these funds. Many places are losing their patience because they cannot see the huge GDP brought about by 3D printing in the short term.

Recently, there is a saying that is very popular: it is impossible to develop a business by playing drums! Used in our 3D printing industry, it is very appropriate: to develop 3D printing, it is impossible to achieve by tapping and playing drums! We need to be down-to-earth, to do technology research and development from the material side to start, do application services from the design side to start, do industrial development to start with professional personnel training!

This year, many friends asked me, now the reputation of 3D printing is not so big, is not 3D printing? I told them that the past is mainly the concept promotion stage of 3D printing, and it is now the 3D printing application stage, which needs to be deeply integrated with traditional industries. When we do 3D printing, we really need a pragmatic style and go deep into it. Whether doing research or applying it, such a big industry can be blown out without bragging.

Regardless of the difficulties and twists and turns that will be encountered on the road to 3D printing, we will actively face and march forward and continue to contribute to the promotion of international dialogue, communication, application marketing, education and training in 3D printing. Look forward to working closely with domestic and foreign counterparts and writing a 3D print together for a better tomorrow!
