How far is green lighting from Hangzhou?

China has a large population and energy shortage. The implementation of environmental protection and energy conservation is an effective way to control environmental pollution and save energy. At the two sessions this year, some representatives proposed the use of environmentally friendly energy-saving (LED) lighting in public places.

At present, most of the lighting in public places in China (such as traffic tunnels, streets, parks, etc.) use traditional power supply lighting methods, which consume huge amounts of electricity every day. The annual electricity and maintenance costs are also an astonishing number, and they are quite To a certain extent, it has caused a situation of power shortage.

The representative said that compared with traditional general lighting, LED lighting has good light color, long service life, low maintenance cost, and more importantly, it can greatly save energy. Therefore, it is recommended to formulate relevant policies in economically developed cities, districts, streets, etc. Public places first promote the use of LED lighting, and the annual energy-saving lighting renovation plan is determined by various places.

As the Hangzhou area with relatively developed economy and relatively tight electric energy, can it be the first to modify LED lighting?

In Hangzhou, the annual energy consumption for street lamps is 55 million kWh, which is only in urban areas. In the 21st century when resources are tight, in Hangzhou, where electricity is frequently absent, this per capita energy consumption data, even if it is reduced by 1 percentage point, can make Hangzhou in development a sigh of relief.

This is only the consumption of street lamps, not including various landscape lights, decorative lights, etc., and does not count the annual growth rate of 6%-7% of lighting facilities. It is imperative to promote green lighting. At present, LED lighting, which is constantly reducing in cost, has naturally been hoped by many people.
Status: energy consumption per street lamp, Hangzhou is four or five times that of Paris

The Lingyin Road at night, clear, quiet, and bright street lights, has made this forest road popular with many night visitors. "There are three heads on one lamp, each with 150 watts of light bulbs, which together are 450 watts. In Paris, such a distance, such a road pass condition, a 100 watt street lamp is enough. ”

Han Mingqing, deputy director of the Hangzhou Lighting Office, has visited the lighting conditions of many foreign cities and is familiar with the street lights in Hangzhou. The lights on Lingyin Road, in his view, there is a waste of resources.

There are 100,000 street lamps in downtown Hangzhou. The urban population of Paris is four or five times that of Hangzhou. The city is also much larger, but the number of street lamps is only 120,000. In terms of per capita energy consumption, it is only one-fifth of Hangzhou. about.

High power consumption not only wastes resources, but also indirectly causes environmental pollution. Electricity is produced by the combustion of coal, and the large amount of carbon dioxide emitted thereby contributes greatly to climate warming.
Conception: Replace the LED lighting at the right place, saving 30%-40%

The existing lighting power consumption is too high, and it is necessary to introduce a new type of green lighting source, and many people have thought of LEDs.

LEDs were originally a kind of semiconductor material. Since this material can also emit light, it has been introduced into the field of illumination by scientists in recent years.

What are the advantages of LED? Han Mingqing gave us a simple example. Ordinary incandescent lamps, the luminous efficacy per watt is only 15 lumens (lumen refers to the visual brightness of an object), because it needs to rely on the filament to burn red, so most of the energy is turned into heat dissipation; and the general energy-saving lamps, The luminous efficiency per watt is 40 lumens; the high-pressure sodium lamp is also a new type of lighting material. The luminous efficiency per watt is 100 lumens. Although it is very bright, it has a fatal weakness, yellowing effect and poor color rendering.

LED lighting, pure light color, light efficiency is not bad. Last year, Hangzhou combined with the environmental improvement project of Huancheng East Road, selected Chengdong Park, Guangfuli and other parks and individual roads to try LED street lights. After several times of comparison under the same conditions, the illuminance of a 20-watt LED street light is close to that of a 60-watt energy-saving lamp, and its single-chip light efficiency reaches 80 lumens per watt.

At present, there are many kinds of street lamps and landscape lamps in Hangzhou. There are high-pressure sodium lamps, metal halide lamps, energy-saving lamps, etc. If they are partially replaced with LED lighting at a suitable location, Han Mingqing said that it can save 30%-40%.
Worry: theoretical green lighting is on the horizon

Due to advances in science and technology, the efficacy of LED lighting has a significant potential for improvement. This is becoming a hot spot of global concern. In some laboratories in the United States, Japan, and Germany, many scientists are studying this new light source and strive to use the country. The lighting is saved on electricity.

However, Han Mingqing said that in theory, high-efficiency LEDs will become a new type of green, energy-saving and environmentally friendly products to replace traditional light sources. But for LEDs, this goal is still working hard, so saying that "potential" does not mean becoming a reality, and definitely can't be rushed.

At present, the domestic LED lighting products market is still mixed, many products known as high-efficiency products, in fact, the technical content is not up to standard, poor heat dissipation, resulting in a short life of street lamps. Last year, a road in a county was rebuilt, and LED street lights were selected. The results were less than half a year, and all were broken. The service life of general street lamps was around two or three years, which undoubtedly caused a waste. Therefore, the LED street lights in Hangzhou are still in the trial stage, far from the time of large-scale promotion.
Prospects Hangzhou Green Lighting will have a five-year plan

In fact, the promotion of lighting energy saving is not limited to the selection of an energy-saving street lamp. At the source, we should choose good energy-saving products, and we must strengthen our management. We must have planning and design, and we must have experts to fully demonstrate. Han Mingqing said that Hangzhou is at the forefront of similar cities in the country. In 2004, Hangzhou issued the first overall plan for night lighting in the country. This year, Hangzhou is preparing the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” for green lighting in Hangzhou, which will be the first city-level green lighting plan in the country.

Under the deployment of this green lighting plan, from this year on, Hangzhou will use streetlights as an entry point to gradually phase out power-consuming products, select high-efficiency, low-energy lighting equipment, and make great efforts in the rectification of light pollution. Han Mingqing said that there is no small gap between Hangzhou and foreign developed countries. Only when these tasks are gradually unfolded and we can do it practically. Five years later, on the issue of green lighting, we can only speak with confidence.
