ITC accepts Osram complaints and investigates Samsung and LG for infringing products

[High-tech LED News] The US International Trade Commission (ITC) officially accepted the complaint against South Korea's Samsung and LG Electronics LED infringement case filed by Siemens AG, a lighting company of Siemens AG, on June 3.

ITC announced the confirmation of the case as follows: Samsung Electronics and its US subsidiary, Samsung LED and its US subsidiary, LG Electronics and its US subsidiary, LG Innotek and its US subsidiary.

ITC will investigate some of the controversial LEDs and related products of Samsung and LG Electronics, including LEDs and LCDs using LEDs.

Osram accused the above-mentioned LEDs and related products that infringed the company's patents from being imported into the United States and sold them in violation of Section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act, requiring ITC to issue exclusion orders and injunctions. ITC decided to partially merge the investigations in the two cases.

Osram has externally claimed that Philips/Lumileds, Cree and Nichia have recognized the company's patent rights and signed a patent license agreement with Osram.
