Kodak sued Samsung Electronics for infringing five digital imaging patents

According to foreign media reports, Eastman Kodak filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics in the United States District Court in New York on Wednesday afternoon and accused Samsung of violating five Kodak digital imaging patents. Kodak recently filed suit against Apple, HTC and Fujifilm.

Kodak pointed out that it has licensed its digital imaging patents to 30 companies including LG, Motorola and Nokia. All of these companies pay Kodak's royalties.

Kodak accused Samsung of violating its five patents:

1. U.S. Patent No. 6,292,218. The name of this patent is "Electronic camera starts capturing a still image while previewing a moving image."

2. U.S. Patent No. 7,210,161. The name of this patent is "Use a Network Profile to Automatically Transfer Images from Electronic Cameras to Service Providers."

3. U.S. Patent No. 7,742,084. The name of this patent is "Network Profile for Automatically Transferring Images from an Electronic Still Camera."

4. U.S. Patent No. 7,453,605. This patent name is "capturing digital images transmitted to an e-mail address."

5. U.S. Patent No. 7,936,391. The name of this patent is "a digital camera that configures the communication interface to selectively transmit images to a destination on a cellular telephone network or a wireless LAN."

Kodak has been seeking buyers of its digital patent portfolio in order to raise enough funds to prevent bankruptcy.
