LED display color correction principle and skill

With the advancement of technology by point-by-point correction, customers have higher and higher requirements on the display quality of LED screens. From the pursuit of only brightness and white balance indicators, the requirements for display uniformity and color fidelity have gradually increased. The use of point-by-point correction technology to greatly improve the uniformity of the display screen is currently in the process of rapid popularization, and the demand for color correction has gradually surfaced, which is increasingly concerned by the industry. This article will briefly introduce the principle, application, implementation methods and techniques of LED display color correction.

1, the basic concept of chromaticity correction

The color measurement and calculation of the LED display requires the CIE XYZ 1931 standard color system. In order to introduce the calculation formula of chromaticity correction later, firstly, a simple combing of the basic concepts related to chromaticity correction is made:

1.1 Tristimulus values

According to the principle of color matching of Grassmann, three primary colors are selected. Any one of the three primary colors cannot be obtained by adding and mixing the other two primary colors, such as RGB three primary colors, and the relative brightness units of the three primary colors are determined by selecting a specific white light as a standard. , other colors of light can be seen as a mixture of different numbers of three primary colors, the number of three primary colors required is the tristimulus value.

The CIE XYZ 1931 color system uses three imaginary primary colors, [X], [Y], [Z] instead of RGB three primary colors, and can be used to determine the units of the three primary colors by matching white light. When quantitatively expressing the brightness and chromaticity of a certain source, the colorimetric equation can be expressed as follows:

X, Y, and Z in the formula are tristimulus values, and the tristimulus values ​​of the mixed colors are the sum of tristimulus values ​​of the respective constituent colors.

Note that only the [Y] primary colors of the three primary colors represent both chromaticity and brightness, and [X], [Z] represent only chromaticity.

1.2 color coordinates

The relationship between the color coordinates x, y, z and the tristimulus value XYZ in the CIE XYZ 1931 chromaticity system is as follows:

It can be seen that x, y, z are not independent, x + y + z = 1, so generally only use x, y two color coordinates to uniquely express chromaticity.
