Q: My 400 CPU has a touch screen. I'm using simulation mode, but I can't connect to the PLC. When I press the button during simulation, it doesn't respond to the program. Can you help?

A: To connect WinCC Flexible to the STEP7 V5.4 simulator for testing, follow these steps:

1. In the hardware configuration of Step7, set the DP interface address of the PLC to 4. In WinCC Flexible's "Communication" - "Connection", select "DP" as the configuration file and set the "Address" of the "HMI Device" to 2, and the "Address" of the PLC device to 4.

2. Open PLCSIM V5.4. By default, it should select the corresponding CPU access node from your project. If not, go to the "File" menu and choose "Select CPU Access Node". Make sure to select the DP interface of the CPU with address 4. Check the status bar at the bottom of PLCSIM or look for "DP=4" information.

3. Ensure that in Step7 Manager > Options > Set PG/PC Interface, the setting is pointing to PLCSIM (Profibus). If not, change it. Then download the Step7 hardware configuration and the program.

4. Finally, start the runtime in WinCC Flexible and launch RT to establish a connection with PLCSIM.
