Pioneer will enter the medical device market, first of all to develop cameras for endoscopes. At the end of October 2012, Pioneer and Daxie Pharmaceutical's medical device manufacturer, Daxie Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., reached a business cooperation agreement. The biggest feature is "high sensitivity"

Pioneer intends to achieve significant differentiation from other companies' products by adopting "HEED-HARP" technology in endoscopic cameras (Figure 1). HEED-HARP combines the high-efficiency electron emission device “HEED” developed by the company and the ultra-high sensitivity photoelectric conversion film “HARP” (high-gain avalanche rushing amorphous) developed by the NHK Broadcasting Technology Research Institute of Japan. As shown in Fig. 1(b), when light is incident from the glass, an electron-hole pair corresponding to the amount of light is generated inside the HARP film containing a-Se (amorphous selenium) as a main component. The electron holes are avalanche amplified in the HARP film. The electron holes are neutralized by the electrons released by the HEED, and an image can be formed by detecting the current flowing at this time. This technology has been exhibited in the "NHKNHK Technology Exhibition" and other occasions, and has received great attention.
