Complement ADI's market solutions for this segment
According to Memes Consulting, Analog Devices (ADI) has recently announced the acquisition of Symeko GmbH, a Munich-based private company specializing in radar hardware and software for autonomous vehicles and industrial applications. This strategic move aims to enhance ADI's capabilities in delivering advanced radar solutions with improved angular accuracy and resolution. Symeko’s cutting-edge signal processing algorithms will play a key role in this development.

With this acquisition, ADI is set to offer more comprehensive and competitive radar systems to its customers. By combining ADI’s industry-leading product portfolio with Symeko’s advanced technologies and algorithms, the result is a powerful radar solution that significantly enhances sensing accuracy for automated driving systems.
"Chris Jacob, Vice President of Automated Driving, Transportation and Safety at ADI, said: 'This acquisition strengthens our position in the radar market and allows us to deliver even more precise and reliable solutions to our customers.'"
According to Yole’s recent report "Automated Driving Vehicle Sensor - 2018," the global sensor market is expected to grow rapidly. It estimates that the laser radar market will reach $1.6 billion by 2022, while the radar market will hit $44 million, the camera market $600 million, and the inertial measurement unit market $900 million.

Symeko’s unique RF and sensor technology enables real-time position detection and distance measurement, making it ideal for complex and harsh industrial environments. This complements ADI’s existing market solutions and helps system integrators and OEMs provide high-precision radar systems tailored for specific applications.
Dr. Rudolf Freytag, CEO of Siemens Technology Accelerator, added: "Symeko has grown into a leader in industrial radar solutions. With ADI’s technology platform and strong market presence, we expect this partnership to drive further innovation across multiple sectors, including automotive and aerospace."
The Symeo team will now be integrated into ADI’s Autopilot Transportation and Safety business unit and will continue to operate from their headquarters in Munich.
Originally developed under Siemens, Symeko was spun off in 2005 with support from Siemens Technology Ventures, which was established in 2001 to foster and accelerate innovative technology projects in Europe. Since then, the company has become a key player in industrial radar solutions.
