Qualcomm pushes AllJoyn open architecture to achieve IoT interoperability

Qualcomm recently announced that its subsidiary Qualcomm Innovation Center (QuIC) will expand the AllJoyn soft-building R & D plan to provide consumers with a new core interoperability service to achieve a richer experience for consumers. These new services are available for devices manufactured by different manufacturers using different operating systems.

Rob Chandhok, president of Qualcomm Innovation Center, said: Do all kinds of connected products, applications and consumer services interact with common communication protocols? , The real Internet of Things will be realized. To achieve this vision, we have added a new core service with a basic simple design for a wide range of applications, so that it can respond to future needs that are unpredictable.

Rob Chandhok pointed out that in the home and car environment, the opportunities brought by the close-range network can obviously be used as a starting point. By opening up the input of the community and manufacturers, Qualcomm hopes to expand the scope of AllJoyn, regardless of brand or The operating system, any product equipped with a processor, can interact with other devices through a simple connection, bringing more benefits to individuals or businesses.

The AllJoyn architecture will include new services designed for basic use cases to achieve a truly effective Internet of Things. The current AllJoyn software development kit provides the core components that developers need to respond to the needs of visibility, connectivity, security, and management of dynamic temporary networks between neighboring devices. After introducing the AllJoyn service in the plan, manufacturers and developers can use high-end components to execute some of the most common use cases.

Qualcomm Innovation Center anticipates that in the future, AllJoyn.org will open the license code to launch full-featured versions of these core services. These services will include:

1. Terminal management: No display device or simple smart device can adjust the configuration through media such as smart phone application software to fit the user's personal network.

2. Notification: Let the device send and receive SMS, video, and multimedia notifications in a standard way.

3. Audio streaming: Execute an interoperable, open, wireless audio streaming protocol, allowing users to stream music on any manufacturer's products.

4. Control: Let the device output its control interface, including related rich images.

These new core services will join AllJoyn's open source code program by May 2013, and it is expected that many American Qualcomm technology companies' platforms and products will also provide support for integrating these services.
